ArchiPro speaks to interior design firm Bond Theory about their studio, the use of natural elements in design and what they have planned for this year’s Design Show Australia.

Emma Foster, Kristy Lawrence and Jenna Leader formed their studio, Bond Theory, in 2019. Since then, the interior design company has become known for its fully integrated design style/approach that brings function, aesthetic, location and the client together. “After years of working for larger corporate firms, we felt a disconnect in delivering projects to clients. Our aim in starting Bond Theory was to encourage these bonds to create better relationships for work, life, and project outcomes,” says Emma Foster, Co-founder of Bond Theory.

Bond Theory’s previous projects, such as The Pavilion, Gisborne Manors and UKO Alexandria, offer an infusion of organic materials and textures. Emma: “We don’t have a fixed aesthetic, projects are uniquely driven by brand, function, location and client.

"Our intent is to incorporate natural materials to maintain an honesty, an authentic sense of quality and are utilised to celebrate a connection to the site.” adds Emma.

The team at Bond Theory work together from the initial planning stages right through to the final design execution, ensuring the design intent meets the project’s objectives. “Through our bond we collaborate closely, sharing knowledge and insights, derived from our broad expertise in hospitality, workplace, residential, retail and health,” says Emma.
