CMT Group are pleased to be part of the significant works on the Waitohi Picton Ferry Precinct project.
Our Civil team have already started creating the foundations for the new turntable for the trains. Our Construction team are underway on developing a new temporary terminal for Interislander customers. Next, we’ll be relocating the hire car facilities for easier access.
We’re working alongside many companies including Simcox, Kiwirail, Port Marlborough, Fulton Hogan, WSP and many local businesses to get this done with minimal disturbance to the public.
Business Development Manager Mina Georgy says “We’re thrilled to have become a key contractor for the iReX project. As a local construction and civil company, it means a lot to us to see a project like this thrive in our community.”
Scott Guthrie, Site Manager for the temporary terminal says “We’re working to a tight deadline to minimize impact for travelers over summertime. It’s going to be a thriving summer for cruise ships so we’ve also created a new footpath for travelers to easily walk past the building site to the bus stop.” The prefabricated frame is waiting patiently on site for the foundations to be laid, then will be erected quickly.
Maintenance Manager, Paul Barron, was on site this week to ensure a solid base was constructed, ready for the concrete pour mid-November. “It’s such a beautiful part of the country to work in and my Posi-track compact track loader makes light work of such a big area to get flat”.
As locals, we love the fact this is something that will be remembered for years to come and are excited to be part of the build. If you’re interested in following the progress head here.
