Screenwood’s World-First Architectural Acoustic Innovations

Screenwood’s architectural acoustic products are designed to improve speech intelligibility and control reverberation – two of the most essential acoustic properties of any space.

“The interplay of acoustics and aesthetics shape people’s experience in a space,” says Cameron. “When these two elements are thoughtfully integrated in architectural product design, the result is a cohesive and inviting environment that supports functional needs while nurturing a sense of comfort and tranquillity.”

About PANELS by Screenwood

PANELS by Screenwood is the acoustic linear batten system of choice for interior architects, designers, and builders seeking a customisable pre-finished AND pre-assembled solution with superior design versatility.

"A builder by trade, I founded Screenwood in 2005 after recognising the potential for a certified and prefabricated linear timber system that’s cost-effective and easy to install,” says Cameron. “We launched PANELS within the first twelve months of operation, and we’re extremely proud that it continues to inspire and empower prominent interior architects, designers, and builders across projects, both grand and intimate in scale."

PANELS by Screenwood: Unique product benefits for commercial design applications

  • Sound absorption excellence: Independently tested and acoustically rated to absorb sound and control reverberation, creating a more comfortable ambience for communication, productivity, and tranquillity.
  • Empowering sculptural design freedom: PANELS accommodate curves and can be manipulated during installation to adhere to concave or convex surfaces. PANELS can also be mitred for a seamless vertical or horizontal corner finish.
  • Easily accommodates lighting and access to services: PANELS enable flush mounting or recessing of lighting fixtures and the incorporation of building services such as electrical and sprinklers. Individual PANELS are removable to access services post-construction.
  • Choice of materials for a natural timber aesthetic: Available in solid timber sourced from PEFC™ certified Australian mills or moisture-resistant (MR) MDF GROUP 3 (Medium Density Fibreboard) crafted using recycled wood fibres. The fibreboard system features natural-looking 3D embossed woodgrain patterning, making it a highly cost effective alternative to solid timber. A non-woodgrain aesthetic is also available.

  • Choice of premium finishes:
    - Solid timber PANELS are available in a choice of Hemlock, Spotted gum, Blackbutt or Western red cedar finishes.
    - The decorative fibreboard PANELS system is pre-finished in a choice of 30 NAVURBAN™ non-PVC olefin decorative surface films, wrapped seamlessly for a flush fit. The superior, consistent finish ensures a seamless colour match to the range of pre-finished Screenwood and NAVURBAN™ products. NAVURBAN™ finishes are UV stable and stain and water-resistant, ensuring durability and longevity.
  • Made to order and pre-assembled for swift and easy installation:
Our made-to-order PANELS are supplied as pre-finished AND pre-assembled modules for swift and easy installation. They are more cost effective than a clip system and easily removable.
  • Certified safe, healthier, and environmentally friendly:
    - Fire tested to AS5637.1 (Group 3). Group 2 fibreboard options are available. Solid timber PANELS are PEFC™ certified, and the decorative fibreboard PANELS hold Global GreenTag certification.
    - VOC tested and exceed GBCA requirements for commercial fit-outs.

SOUNDLINA® by Screenwood: Unique product benefits for commercial design applications

  • High sound absorption performance: SOUNDLINA® wallpaper’s PAT. PENDING design works in conjunction with grid plasterboard and acoustic insulation to absorb sound waves and control reverberation. It is tested to achieve 0.85 NRC when installed as recommended on 12/25mm perforated grid plasterboard with acoustic insulation14kg p/m3.

The SOUNDLINA® perforated wallpaper allows sound to travel through its subtle perforations to the grid plasterboard (painted black for aesthetics), where the acoustic insulation absorbs it (See Figure 1).
