The Build Process Unveiled

Pitau is not just a house; it's a work of art meticulously crafted with custom-angled cedar, Stellaria bricks, and travertine stone, among other unique elements. Fairbairn Builders embarked on a journey of collaboration and innovation from the project's inception. This style of cedar cladding, a first in New Zealand, resulted from a close collaboration between ATA’s Adam Taylor, Ray from Rosenfield Kidson & Co., and the Fairbairn Builders team.

Upon entering Pitau, one is immediately struck by the handcrafted finishings. From the cedar-lined entertainment unit to the custom kitchen adorned with aluminium, stone, and stainless tops, every corner exudes unparalleled craftsmanship. The attention to detail extends to the Stellaria brick lining, the travertine steps and the 5mm negative detail meticulously integrated throughout the home.

Unprecedented Challenges, Unwavering Resolve

The construction of Pitau presented multiple technical challenges. The extensive amount of engineer-designed steel beneath the floor slab required precise execution to ensure structural integrity. Open-plan spaces necessitated concealed steel bracing, while the unique concrete ground floor demanded expert craftsmanship to achieve a flawless finish.

Perhaps the most remarkable feat was installing the custom cedar cladding, working without existing specifications; the team navigated the complexities with ingenuity and skill, resulting in a seamless integration of form and function.

Fine Craftsmanship: A Labor of Love

At the heart of Fairbairn Builders' ethos lies a commitment to fine craftsmanship. Every team member embodies this ethos, driven by a passion for perfection. From Pitau's inception, meticulous planning ensures that every detail, no matter how minute, is executed flawlessly.

The creation of the angled cedar cladding is a testament to this commitment. Through careful collaboration and innovative manufacturing processes, the team achieved a product that boasts aesthetic appeal, longevity, and durability.

A Legacy of Excellence

As Pitau stands as a testament to architectural innovation and craftsmanship, Fairbairn Builders celebrates the culmination of a journey marked by passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence. With Pitau, they have not just built a house; they have created a legacy - a stunning home that reflects all the owners wished for and more.
