A place to gather around the fireplace or barbecue, watch TV, relax and gather with friends and family, covered outdoor entertainment areas allow us to make the most of every season.
With more than 30 years’ experience in aluminium fabrication, EXO Louvre Systems has engineered the ultimate outdoor louvre roof designed for New Zealand’s weather conditions – the EXO louvre roof system. Adjusted in seconds at the touch of a button, it provides seamless indoor-outdoor living year-round.
Providing full end-to-end service, EXO designs and manufactures each louvre roof system in its Auckland factory. Each roof design is bespoke to fit the space and home it is for, and without the need for a major renovation or an interior extension, it’s an easy and affordable way to extend your living space.
Rain sensors, lighting, heating and privacy blinds or louvre screens can all be seamlessly integrated into your EXO louvre roof design to take livability to the next level.
“For most projects, we install rain sensors which close the louvre roof when it’s raining. It means you can leave your furniture and everything outside and be assured the roof is going to close itself if it starts to rain,” says EXO Louvre Systems’ Helen Puckey.
Incorporating an extra-wide seven-metre span to give uninterrupted access to the pool, the EXO louvre roof system installed in this project pictured below features a rain sensor, as well as integrated lighting, heaters and audio – a combination making this a masterpiece in poolside living that can be enjoyed to the full all year round.
A range of premium Heatstrip outdoor heaters can be selected, all engineered with durability in mind to offer an elegant solution for keeping outdoor spaces warm and cosy year-round.
Integrated lighting adds ambience and functionality, and for comfort and protection from the elements, sliding panels and pull-down blinds – sunshade mesh and clear PVC – are available to further enclose outdoor spaces and transform them into outdoor rooms.
“They buffer the wind and they do catch a bit of rain even if it’s just the mesh blinds. They are also great for privacy and cosiness,” says Puckey.
“Something that we are starting to do more of is shutters and side louvres, as well. With EXO Louvre Systems being a division of Manson Engineering, we’ve got the knowledge, designers and resources to make custom surrounds and shutters to complement our louvre roof systems.
“We can also do general plumbing such as downpipes. We can make the right design to fit your space and high-span louvre blades allow for 5m width in a single bay configuration.”
Working with homeowners, landscapers, builders and design professionals, EXO Louvre Systems initially provides preliminary drawings before making any necessary alterations and additions such as accessories and colour choices.
When choosing the colour of your EXO louvre roof, hundreds of colours in the Dulux powder coat range are available. For a striking aesthetic, the frame and blade colours can be mixed and matched.
“If timber is more your thing, then the MetWood powder coat will give you a warm, natural feel to your outdoor space,” says Puckey.
Once these choices have been finalised and approved, production drawings are created for the design to go into manufacturing – at each stage, the customer is kept up to date with progress in the manufacturing process.
In the days after installation, the project’s design engineer will return to check the structure and provide an electrical certificate.
Some homeowners also choose to incorporate sliding doors to further enclose their outdoor space – a design addition that involves further engineering and consideration.
“While it requires additional attention, we are fully equipped to assist in addressing this matter. It's crucial to factor in from the outset to ensure adequate support for the added weight and wind loading, areas where our team of engineers excels. With our expertise, we can seamlessly integrate these considerations into the design process, ensuring optimal functionality and structural integrity,” says Puckey.
Built with a design life of 25 years, every EXO louvre roof system is fully warranted for five years for the structure and operational components and a standard 10-year warranty on powder coating, with all products fabricated and installed by Manson Engineering.
“We know you’ll love your EXO louvre roof system so much that you’ll want to live out there all year round, and there’s no reason why you can’t.”
