With the vast array of locally made and imported products on the market today, we are somewhat spoiled for choice. If you want a particular item for your home, it’s most likely to be available from several sources, both local and imported.
But, with the costs involved in home building and renovating today, it's also essential to think about the quality and longevity of the products you choose. A beautiful home should be finished with quality products.
Haynes Glass is a locally based, family-owned and -operated business with a manufacturing plant in Auckland, where a highly trained team of skilled staff and an experienced and knowledgeable management team ensure that every product – from its specialist glass products such as shower doors, balustrades and pool fences to splashbacks and mirrors – meets the standards its customers have come to expect and appreciate.
“We have a reputation to maintain, and the whole team takes pride in delivering a premium service and the best possible products. We have long experience in this niche area, a wealth of knowledge, and are well-known in the market for our high-quality workmanship,” says general manager Matthew Hayne.
“At the moment, we are particularly proud of our custom-designed mirrors, which we manufacture from scratch in our factory – taking the glass to produce a quality product that is durable and good looking.”
Haynes Glass’s mirrors can be manufactured with stainless steel frames powdercoated in a range of colours and finishes to match or complement other items in the room, or they can be frameless with a slightly chamfered edge for a neat and discreet look. The mirrors can also incorporate LED lighting systems – which are becoming very popular for bathrooms, as they cast a soft ambient light, create an interesting feature in the space, and are practical for applying make-up or shaving.
Each mirror is custom cut precisely to the size required, with the installation team providing a full measure on-site to ensure it will fit the space perfectly. Haynes Glass also offers an installation service, if needed, leaving the mirror ready for the electrician on the project to wire up the LED lighting.
“Our factory has the capability to produce mirrors in just about every shape or size. At the moment, we are seeing a lot of interest in retro-style, pill-shaped mirrors, but we also see plenty of round, oval, square and oblong mirrors.
Other options include grey, bronze and antique decorative mirrors, often selected to make a bold statement in powder rooms or living spaces.
Coloured bathroom hardware such as handles, hinges and channels is another area where Haynes Glass is recognising a trend and rising to the challenge. Some of the popular finishes the company offers include gunmetal, brushed nickel, brushed brass and matte black.
“People are keen to match their shower hardware to their bathroom taps for a unified, seamless look, so we have recently created a range that allows them to do this,” says Matthew.
The company applies its expertise to producing glass balustrades and pool fences, all constructed from quality materials and designed to meet safety regulations and be durable.
Haynes Glass works closely with architects and interior and bathroom designers to create products that meet the style and feel they want to achieve and will also liaise directly with homeowners.
As well as its residential work, the company also has a strong commercial division, specialising in office fit-outs, shop fronts, balustrades, canopies and frameless doors.
"Glass is ideal for shopfronts, allowing the business to showcase its goods and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for customers. Again, we work with architects and designers to customise each project. Glass can be curved, frameless, whatever is required to create the best possible effect and appearance,” says Matthew.
