Christmas has got to be one of our favourite times of the year here at French Country, not only because we get to indulge in delicious food and wine, but because we get to decorate our homes too.

Christmas lunch or dinner with family and friends is a highlight of the day, so why not make your meal extra special by creating the perfect table setting. From flickering candlelight to gorgeous serving platters, here’s how to put together a magical Christmas table setting. The first step for creating your Christmas table is to choose a colour theme. This year we are loving white, green and gold with accents of blush, but white, silver and green with hints of natural tones will also look stunning.

Tablecloths, Napkins & Placemats

Start with a tablecloth as your background colour, then work upwards by adding placemats and napkins. We've used traditional white as our backdrop, but army green and dusky pink would also look elegant. Mix and match your napkins to add a bit of extra colour and fun to your table setting.

Greenery Centerpiece

Foraged greenery such as eucalyptus, ivy or other evergreen foliage will add charm to your Christmas table. Arrange it generously down the centre of your dining table and nestle candleholders and decorations in amongst. Cut flowers in vases, or rosemary tied in bundles are other ways to incorporate greenery onto your table.

Dinnerware & Serveware

We've opted for a very formal look this Christmas with our classic scalloped style Vienna dinnerware. You can also achieve this look by adding in pieces of Vienna serveware such as salad bowls, serving bowls and platters.

Cutlery

For a sophisticated look make sure you set your table with all the cutlery pieces you'll need for your Christmas feast. Our striking gold Phoenix cutlery will definitely make a statement on your table.

Candleholders and Candles

A Christmas table should always have an abundance of candles, no matter what time of the day it is. Whether you can use candle holders, lanterns or clusters of pillars, candlelight creates a beautiful mood and ambience. Try using scented candles to make the occasion even more special.

Glassware

What better way to toast a Merry Christmas than with gorgeous glassware? We particularly love our Leaf Etched or Vintage Green styles for Christmas. Position your glassed next to candles so they capture and reflect the flickering light, adding a bit of glamour to your table.
