The AGA cooker's ability to adapt to society’s changing culinary needs is a testament to its timelessness and versatility. While it honours traditional slow cooking techniques, it also embraces the latest trends in gastronomy, accommodating a wide range of cooking styles and recipes. Whether you're a chef experimenting with various dishes or a home cook preparing simple family meals, the AGA cooker enhances the overall culinary experience.
AGA cookers are renowned for their multi-functionality, eliminating the need for multiple kitchen appliances by consolidating the features of ovens, stovetops, slow cookers, grills and toasters into one fashionable unit. This streamlines the cooking process, enabling cooks to seamlessly transition from one cooking method to another without plugging in another appliance.
Made with recycled materials, AGA’s more contemporary models now provide conventional cooking functions, including electric capabilities to assist in managing energy consumption, while making them more sustainable.
AGA’s timeless heritage finishes are now boldly paired with a rainbow palette and modern electric features, but the appeal of an AGA cooker ultimately still lies in its cast iron cooking surfaces. Cast iron is the ideal material for cooking due to its ability to retain and distribute heat evenly, ensuring consistent cooking results and enhancing the flavours of dishes. Many AGA owners describe the AGA as 'forgiving' due to the gentle, steady heat that minimises the risk of overcooking and allows for a more relaxed cooking experience.
Cast iron is a natural and safe cooking surface, unlike non-stick coatings used in many modern cookware. Non-stick coatings, while convenient to avoid excessive scrubbing, can release harmful chemicals at high temperatures, causing potential health risks. In contrast, cast iron doesn’t contain harmful substances and requires minimal oil or fat for cooking.
The gentle heat of the AGA cooker helps lock in the natural juices and flavours of the food. As a result, dishes cooked in an AGA are known for their taste and succulence. Whether it's slow-cooked roasts, baked bread or a flavoursome curry, the AGA consistently delivers an impressive culinary experience at home.
A culinary experience is now backed by research. Scientists from the National Centre for Food Manufacturing spent 18 months examining the difference between food cooked in an AGA cooker and a conventional appliance.
“Most AGA owners believe there is a difference, but no one had looked at this in detail to try and prove it,” says Dr Wayne Martindale, Associate Professor of Food Insights and Sustainability.
“Cooking with an AGA cast iron cooker is a simpler, more forgiving process than a conventional oven, where there can be a lot more variability in temperature. In essence, [the AGA] is a more predictable oven, and a more predictable oven is one we get to know well,” Martindale adds.
The century-old brand holds a tradition and British heritage that still resonates with people today, making it a cherished part of the household. An AGA cooker provides style and ease to your domestic chores while stirring up a greater appreciation for culinary finesse.
With its slow and steady cooking process, the AGA encourages a more mindful approach to cooking. It allows individuals to slow down, savour the process and enjoy the journey of creating exceptional family meals. Whether baking with loved ones, experimenting with new recipes or simply warming the home, an AGA cooker becomes an essential hub for creating lasting memories in the kitchen.
Representing more than just a kitchen appliance, an AGA cooker has become a conversation starter – a common thread to weave stories of culinary adventures. Its timeless appeal, enhanced by modern innovations, empowers cooks of all levels to embrace the art of cooking.
As the AGA adapts to changing times while staying true to its heritage, it remains a beloved symbol of warmth and cuisine in the heart of every home.
