Innovative lighting for humid environments

Not all lighting performs equally in humid environments. However, the world’s first IP65 dual power linear light system – from Italian lighting designer and producer, Simes – has arrived in New Zealand. Constructed with an aluminium profile, a silicone strip protects the electrical terminals.

“The market has long been awaiting a lighting system that allows complete flexibility for outdoor applications and areas with high moisture, salt and sulphur content,” says Ardy Phillips, lighting consultant at Targetti – the exclusive distributor of the IP System in New Zealand. “This system allows the designer to create flexible scenes and scenarios for the outdoors.”

The product comes after three years of development by Simes CEO and IP System designer, Roberto Botti, who long had the desire to develop a track light for outdoor use: “After years of thinking, three years of development and various rejected and redesigned moulds, he finally succeeded in creating a product that gives the flexibility of combining diffused and accent light – suited to both indoor and outdoor settings, even with the presence of moisture.”

Simes: The IP System is the first IP65 dual power linear light system. It’s composed of a light rod, which is a stand-alone lighting fixture providing diffused light and combines with one or more additional IP65 plug-in lights on a separate independent power supply, allowing the rod and accent plug-in fixtures to be controlled separately. Together, the lighting rod and plug-in fittings constitute the IP System.

Simes: With its innovative IP65 plug-in installation system, the IP System provides a high level of protection from humidity and water ingress on all elements of the system and provides a flexible illumination of any space that requires the effect of diffused linear light combined with accent lighting. Simes: The IP System can be installed in any outdoor application such as gazebos, terraces, soffits and ceilings of any exterior space. Other examples could be roof gardens and pergolas of restaurants and bars, but also indoors like wineries, cellars, swimming pools, wellness centres and spas.
