PATTERN RECOGNITION, ART & MATHEMATICS

My love for pattern recognition and original art has brought me full circle back into the designer stage. Original art is my passion, but so is photography, ceramics, sculpture, computer science and design. “Mathematics, spatial analysis and fractals were my first love affair and I found those in flowers.”

My connection with pattern recognition and spatial analysis defines me. Whether it is acrylics on canvas, clay in hand, pen on paper, pen on digital pads, design and patterns in photoshop or building AI systems trained on my art for the past 30 years, it’s all the same to me, “It’s all somatosensory”.

TAURANGA. BOP. THE CALIFORNIA OF THE 1960'S.

Growing up around gardeners and Interior designers, my love for patterns and art grew early. I remember the fresh smell of paint monthly in the house, the new wallpapers, carpets, furniture. Textures to touch, flowers in the garden with smell, colour and patterns, it was my child that embraced the senses around me. It was my Nana Couper that really helped to define my appreciation for delicate dried flower arrangements. Growing, drying and preparing the flowers, stems and leaves to arrange for large events. It was my mothers love of design from Italy and Europe that brought the paisley into the house, the ornate carpets, the textured wallpapers, and porcelain vases, silver dining wares and concrete statues in the gardens. It was my father working in wallpapers that brought my attention to Laura Ashley and her patterns of colourful English landscapes and delicate repeating patterns. All these people had a great influence on my life.

After leaving school with the highest grades in art, (mainly pencil drawing and painting), I started an Art Gallery in Tauranga. The youngest gallery owner in the country. University came in between and then my career in pottery and ceramics gained international attention. I travelled NZ for several years selling handcrafted ceramics and then moved into a brick and mortar Gallery that I started at Waihi Beach in 2017. Waihi Beach Gallery. I curated over 250 artists till Dec 2022 when it was sold to new owners. During the last few years, I have travelled to Europe and U.S.A. where I spent a lot of time in artists residencies in Luca, Italy, Sicily, Italy, and more recently California USA and Utah USA. My art career has allowed me to work with diversified industry leaders including AKON (Musician) and Holy wood producers and directors, Micheal Levine, Brett Leonard, Warren Zide, actors and musicians, James A Larson, Thomas Schoenberger, to name a few. My art lives in many private collections world wide and I have sold over 5000 pieces of original art to date. My collectors range from ceramics, abstract art, space art, flower art, quantum portal art and design. I have also worked in the Web3 Industry since 2019 with artists, and engineers from NASA and JPL and designers and Ai engineers from all over the world. My life has taken me in many different directions, but ART is my love and always will be.

ITALY

It is the Italians that really bring it home for me for art and design. After all it’s my largest DNA string of 30%. Italy and Europe have style, theres no denying that. I am and was always inspired by the Baroque style buildings, architecture and fashion. While working with Fashion Designer Danny Wise in Sicily on his collection for a Museum in France, he inspired me to create and design patterns for fashion, furniture, interiors and architecture. Bringing a mix and match style brand together for Hotels, Motels, Brands, Shops, airports and Industries, as well as catwalks, exhibitions and shows. AC Baroque brings that finished look. It brings history back into the Contemporary world. The designs are bespoke and bold, clear and defined. Every pattern gives an old story new meaning.

Thats why OneFrame medium in a range of sizes and configurations, is a great partnership for AC Baroque patterns. We can design large or small displays that make a statement, that work for the customer in line with their desire for a finished look.

AC Baroque (Trade registered under Ana Couper Ltd) was launched in 2023. This brand brings with it all the style and beauty of that era. Luxury, intensity and boldness. It’s not shy, it’s a statement. It’s a style that never stops attracting a second look. Its beauty in all the senses I saw as a child. It is nature, and flowers, textures, and the look of a time gone past. A new start, to something old always growing into something else. Never failing to provide an ambience.
