Global trends are emerging in the New Zealand market across colour, shape and texture bringing a sensory experience to bathroom design.

Spaces can be more than functional, and bathrooms are increasingly becoming a living space where textures and materials can create a more harmonious atmosphere – one that has a positive impact on us at an emotional level.

Bathroom design is also reflecting global trends towards wellness and personalisation. For example, the contrast between the powder room or guest bathroom being less conservative but with a unique piece, to the requirements in the day-to-day bathroom with a more personalised and relaxed environment incorporating new elements such as multi shower spray and jet options, saunas and steam showers.

Designers and architects are looking at new shapes and textures that can stimulate them to create something different for their clients. We are seeing an increasing interest across the spectrum from gloss to satin surfaces, the shape of the bathroom vessel and counter, and freedom in tapware colour and style of mounting.

Our bathroom experience is becoming more personalised and private. Household size and lifestage can demand different requirements with more than one bathroom per household being the norm as children grow into adults still living with their parents, or even the ageing segment requiring more family support in a co-living environment.

Technology is also an influence for future design with connectivity in the bathroom becoming as available as it is in the kitchen with an added appeal to the those driven by the wellness trend.

Colour and texture are both very exciting in bathroom design as they drive our inspiration and emotion, reflecting the bathroom as our living space and enhancing our time spent in the bathroom.

XViu by Duravit bathroom series inspires soft, organic forms that contrast with precise geometry. Sophisticated details and material combinations, deliver colour, including new black satin, texture and shape for an individualised approach.

Contemporary design with elegant finishes are seen across our Paini, Dornbracht and Cristina tapware range. Colour has been a key feature for new tapware providing both bold and more conservative options.
