Project Overview: In 2025, AUTO MOSSA was entrusted with an exciting challenge: to design and supply high-performance rapid doors capable of operating in a high-wind environment. The project involved installing 6.0m high x 6.0m wide rapid doors at a busy logistics facility exposed to sustained wind speeds of up to 120 km/h. The client needed doors that could not only withstand extreme wind pressures but also support high-frequency operational cycles — opening and closing hundreds of times per day without performance degradation.
The Challenge
Typical rapid door designs using conventional steel wind bars were found to be too heavy, which would reduce operational speed and increase mechanical wear under such intense cycling. Balancing strength, lightness, and durability became the central focus of our engineering team.
Key project challenges included:
- Wind resistance: Doors had to remain stable and operational in winds approaching 120 km/h.
- High cycle performance: The doors needed to support continuous, heavy-duty usage without frequent maintenance or failure.
- Structural integrity: Large door dimensions (6.0m x 6.0m) demanded careful weight management to ensure motor longevity and minimal stress on moving parts.
Our Solution
After thorough engineering analysis and materials testing, AUTO MOSSA developed a customized high-speed door solution utilizing Carbon Fibre Reinforced Wind Bars instead of traditional steel.
Why Carbon Fibre?
- Lightweight: Carbon fibre significantly reduces the overall door weight, enabling faster opening and closing speeds.
- High tensile strength: Despite its lightweight properties, carbon fibre offers exceptional resistance to bending and deflection, critical for handling high wind loads.
- Fatigue resistance: Ideal for high-cycle environments, carbon fibre maintains its performance characteristics over a longer service life compared to metal components.
This innovative design allowed the doors to maintain structural rigidity under wind pressures without compromising on operational speed or reliability. Results and Performance The result was a large-scale rapid door capable of: Sustained operation at wind speeds up to 120 km/h. High-frequency cycling, meeting the logistics facility’s demanding daily throughput. Reduced maintenance requirements due to the lighter door structure and lower mechanical stress on drive systems. By combining advanced materials engineering with precision manufacturing, AUTO MOSSA delivered a tailored solution that enhanced safety, efficiency, and longevity for the client's operation.
