At MAW Design, we've taken on a project, Ngā Iti Kahurangi (which translates to “small and highly-valued treasures”), to improve the internal environments of small and remote schools throughout New Zealand. We want to help create better and more comfortable learning spaces for students throughout Aotearoa.
Our approach is to focus on the quality and performance of the lighting design. We have built a custom app so that the project managers responsible for the refurbishment of each of the 760 schools in the programme know that they are installing the best lighting for each classroom. And it is not just brightness, the luminaires have been selected because they have no flicker, good colour of light, longevity, energy efficiency and minimal glare. Using an app allows us to manage a programme at scale, and collect metrics to ensure that the predicted matches the actual results.
Our expertise and knowledge of the industry, combined with our commitment to improving learning environments, ensures the highest quality of work throughout the project. We aim to achieve the best outcome that meets the needs of students, teachers, principals, and the Ministry alike.
