Pre-engineered barrier systems and balustrades contribute to an integral piece of infrastructure that promotes pedestrian safety.

Representing an important piece of infrastructure for the Morten Bay Regional Council, the new Private Percy Cash Bridge footbridge and bike pathway work to promote community safety by keeping pedestrians off the busy road.

Combining metal flooring and allied products manufacturer Webforge and architectural and extractive screening products provider Locker, Webforge Locker is renowned for both its bespoke solutions and premium-quality range of metal facades, wire curtains, flooring and safety barrier solutions, and metal balustrades.

Calls from Samford Valley locals to upgrade the Private Percy Cash Bridge resulted in the development of a dedicated pedestrian and bike bridge across the South Pine River. Led by Queensland Bridge and Civil (QBC), Webforge Locker was enlisted to support the Private Percy Cash Bridge project through the provision of pre-engineered barrier systems.

The project provided several key challenges both in terms of the site and timeframe. Curved concrete pathways and multiple barrier applications posed structural challenges, while the fast-paced nature of the project – completed in six months – meant that there was no time for bespoke pieces to be engineered.

Through early engagement in the project, Webforge Locker was able to support WBC in selecting the right barrier for each application. For the Private Percy Cash Bridge project, Webforge Locker provided a selection of pre-engineered barrier systems designed with optimal safety in mind.

The new footbridge features the Monowills Velocity Balustrade with Handrail, while the bikeways make use of the Monowills Link Velocity Balustrade and Monowills Link Velocity 3 Rail.

Early consultation during the design phase of the project allows the multiple barrier system to be incorporated into the initial design, reducing installation costs by using a proprietary engineered system. The systems were manufactured across multiple sites and consolidated for delivery from Webforge Locker’s Brisbane plant in a ready-to-assemble format, enabling efficient operations on site.
