Innovation and a focus on customer needs are at the heart of ScreenAway, crafting solutions for windows and doors that enhance comfort without compromising design.

As Australian homes evolve, so do the expectations of homeowners and designers. From light control and privacy to airflow and indoor-outdoor connection, the demand for adaptable, design-forward solutions has never been higher.

“Our product development has always been around ensuring that we’re solving people’s problems – whether that’s full light control so they can sleep during the day or finding a better flyscreen system so people can open their homes up during the warmer months,” says ScreenAway Managing Director, Dan O’Rourke. “We listen to our customers and if we find that there’s a common problem out there, we’ll try to help them solve it.”

Since 2019, ScreenAway has grown from a small South Australian operation into a national brand with services across Australia.

A complete solution for windows and doors

With three specialised product ranges – ScreenAway Blackout Blinds, ViewTek Retractable Flyscreens, and Indiana Sheers and Blockouts – ScreenAway offers a comprehensive solution for designers, architects, and homeowners seeking discreet, innovative, and reliable systems. Each product range is available in multiple colours across both fabrics and frames, and features a modern-minimalistic aesthetic, blending seamlessly into any project while enhancing overall liveability.

ScreenAway Blackout Blinds

A testament to ScreenAway’s ingenuity and customer-focused philosophy, these top-performing, custom-made, retractable blackout blinds are designed to deliver a full blackout effect, as well as privacy, insulation, and noise-reducing properties – making them ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, media rooms, and anywhere that requires total light control and energy efficiency.

“It’s a system that helps so many people – they could be young mothers with babies or toddlers, shift workers, many of our customers are first responders like police, paramedics, nurses and doctors. There's such a big need for people to get good sleep during the day,” says Dan.

“We were the industry leaders in taking the blackout blind to the market, and have 13 years of experience and product refinement.”

ViewTek Retractable Flyscreens

Designed for modern Australian living, ViewTek Flyscreens are ideal for bifold, sliding, stacking, French, and hinged doors, seamlessly bringing the outdoors inside. This premium retractable pleated flyscreen is built with Japanese-patented technology and manufactured locally, featuring durable mesh, a discreet frame profile, and a smooth gliding motion.

“In the last six months, we’ve had over 700 customers call in asking for a better flyscreen solution for their stacker doors, bi-fold doors, and sliding doors, so they could feel comfortable opening up their house during the warmer months when the bugs are out. We found three suppliers and chose the Japanese manufacturer because the product was the strongest, had the best screen, and also the most adaptable system for Australian situations.”

Indiana Sheer and Blockouts

Developed in direct response to customer needs, Indiana Sheers and Blockouts combine functionality, safety, and refined design. “Our customers were wanting a sheer option to put behind their ScreenAway Blackouts so they could have privacy during the day or evening,” shares Dan. This system also replaces traditional chains and cords with ZeroGravity spring technology, allowing for effortless, safe operation.

“We know that America has banned cords and chains in their roller blinds due to the safety hazards for infants, babies and pets, so we knew we didn’t want to go down that path. So, we found a spring manufactured by Hunter Douglas that features the latest technology with no cords or strings required.”

The future of modern Australian living

With ScreenAway’s comprehensive product suite of blind and flyscreen solutions, homeowners, architects, designers, and developers can achieve a seamless balance of style, practicality, and performance.

“We’re Australian-made, and we’re backed by the Australian Made logo,” adds Dan. “It’s important to us to manufacture our products in Australia so that we’re supporting the local industry. We’ve built a business that prioritises the entire customer experience – from design right through to installation and beyond. It’s about ensuring quality at every step, and continuing to innovate for Australian lifestyles.”
