Shower screen sizes: a dimensions guide

There are three important units of measurement when it comes to shower screen dimensions:

• The first is height; most shower screens you’ll come across in Australia have a height of between 1800mm - 2200mm.
• The second is the width; standard width ranges for a shower screen fall between 800mm - 1200mm. This width measurement will vary depending on how many glass panels make up the shower screen.
• The third factor to consider is the depth, also referred to as the return depth. Most shower screens are constructed to fit return depth measurements from 800mm to 1800mm.

Depth does not directly refer to the shower screen but rather to the depth of your shower unit from the wall. It's important to know the depth measurement to ensure that the shower screen fits correctly.

Keep in mind though, that depth is usually only applicable to shower screens that open out, such as a pivot door shower screen. Of course, it's important to consider variations based on individual bathroom sizes, and if you're looking for a custom shower screen, these sizes will vary, so consider these figures a guideline.

There are different types of shower screens available, three of the most common being frameless, semi-frameless and full-framed shower screens.

Frameless shower screens

Dimensions for a frameless shower screen range from 900mm to 1500mm in width and 1900mm to 2200mm in height. These dimensions can be adjusted based on the size of your bathroom. For example, a frameless shower screen for a double shower will have larger dimensions than a screen for a single shower.

Semi-frameless shower screens

The standard dimensions for semi-frameless shower screens range from 800mm to 1200mm in width and 1900mm to 2100mm in height.

Fully framed shower screens

The typical dimensions for fully framed shower screens range from 750mm to 1200mm in width and 1800mm to 2100mm in height.

Within these types of shower screens, you’ll often come across different subcategories, such as:

• Sliding door shower screens.
• Bi-fold shower screens.
• Pivot door shower screens.
• Fixed panel shower screens.
