The power and allure of large format tiles

By using tiles in this way, renovators for example can establish a motif that can run from the kitchen splashback to the dining table, all the way to bedroom side tables and cabinet doors throughout the home.

“This means they have much more versatility in the home compared to smaller format tiles — and this can offset the practicality that’s lost with the more difficult installation and transportation,” says Walter.

But when it comes to Newpearl Tiles’ products, there may be less difficulty in these respects than expected — because many of their larger tiles are relatively light. Their thickness ranges from 3.5 to 20mm, with much of the larger format tiles occupying the lower part of that range — meaning the average weight per square metre of tile is often lighter than smaller format tiles.

“With a weight of just 8 kg or 14.5 kg per forecourt metre for the 3.5 mm & 6 mm ranges respectively, our tiles are very light — making it easier to handle and install.”

Advantage 1: Strength

Perfect Compression Resistance Utilizing cutting-edge Italian System professional production lines, with a 30,000-ton press machine for one-time molding, ensuring that every area of each product has the same density and strength, with a fracture strength of up to 1210N.

Advantage 2: High-Strength Wear Resistance

This product can handle 2100 rotations of friction impact, with a level 6 Mohs hardness rating, capable of preventing friction impact from sharp items such as keys, utility knives, screwdrivers, etc.

You can even directly cut vegetables, meat, and other foods directly on the slab surface.

Advantage 3: Highly Efficient Stain Resistance,

With an ultra-low water absorption rate of 0.05% which prevents various oils, red wine, soy sauce, and even nail polish from penetrating the surface of the tiles, and can effectively prevent chemical pollution and corrosion.

Advantage 4: High temperature resistant and flame retardant.

These high-quality raw materials undergo balanced firing at 1200 degrees Celsius, allowing cooking directly on the tile surface, and can also accommodate various hot foods, high-temperature cooking tools, and so on.

Advantage 5: Easy Cutting

With uniform density across the entire area of the tile, making it easier to cut and drill holes and facilitating construction.

Advantage 6: Safer and Healthier

Lead and cadmium release levels far below international standards, and radioactivity much lower than natural stone, safe and environmentally friendly, providing you and your family with a healthier living environment.

Advantage 7: Laser High-Definition 3D Inkjet Printing Technology

Completely replicating the style, texture, and delicate patterns of marble, with a tactile feel, perfectly solving the problem of marble's fear of acids, and increasing process ability.

Advantage 8: Strict Electronic Quality Inspection and Monitoring

Using the latest cutting-edge AI algorithms for analysis that detect various defects, deformations and flatness issues.

The versatility doesn’t stop there: Newpearl offers a wide range of colours and designs. There are colour options that include grey, light beige, marble black, stone brown, dark grey, as well as many others. There are timber-look tiles and stone-look tiles, as well as authentic marble, mosaic, terrazzo and porcelain slab tiles — a veritable smorgasbord of choice when it comes to flooring, wall coverings, and many other applications.

And of course, these are available in a wide variety of size specifications to suit any type of project, Walter says — from small scale formats to large scale formats up to 1610 x 3210mm.

Newpearl Tiles has been supplying tiles in New Zealand since 2013, reaching an ever-growing number of distributors across the country and helping specifiers, designers and homeowners complete their projects for almost a decade.

“We have very strong professional relationships with retailers across the country,” says Walter, “and excited to keep growing even further!”
