'The Rug Affair' - HANRAD X Jane Galloway - “NOW or NEVER" exhibition and the launch of a new Art Rug collection”

Jane Galloway is the very first Waikato based Artist HANRAD BESPOKE RUGS has had the pleasure of working with. Creating a capsule collection of designs. Inspired by Galloway's original paintings, the Now or Never Exhibition explores the dynamic relationship between art and design.
"We were intrigued by the concept behind Jane's original artworks which reference nature, plants, and landforms; her works create a striking contrast between abstraction and realism. As with all our rugs, we used the finest New Zealand wool and art silk in an eye-catching combination of colours to capture the beauty and nuances of the original artwork".
"The exciting journey creating this capsule collection incorporates a wide-ranging selection of techniques to create wonderfully rich and varied surface textures that capture the essence of the original artwork.
Using luxurious NZ wool and art silk our team of highly skilled artisans combine 43 individual colours into more than 120 combinations to deliver stunning graduations of colour across each of the designs".
About the Artist
New Zealand artist Jane Galloway’s creativity spans almost five decades beginning at Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland then running a bag manufacturing business followed by a career as a landscape painter, greeting card designer, graphic print designer and lately, full circle back to her first love of abstract painting.
Some of her current output explores the disciplines of colour mixing and composition but she also embraces experimentation and play to give intuition a voice. The final works are not planned. The painting process is about letting go of the outcome and taking risks to see what emerges.
For Jane new styles and themes are beginning to reveal themselves and point the way towards an exciting body of new work.
Jane’s style can be currently seen as grid structures disrupted by looser marks and shapes.
Some reference natural subjects such as plants and landforms while others are purely abstract and look to convey a feeling all a work in progress.
