The newly rebuilt Springfield School was designed to honour the history of the area and support young learners to thrive.

At the foothills of the Southern Alps, Springfield School has existed in one iteration or another since the 1870s.
Inside the buildings, careful thought was put into colours and finishes, giving the classrooms and warm and welcoming feel.

At the end of the administration block, railway tracks have been used as a screening, referencing the rail history of the school's site.
The basket weave of the rain screens is also reflected on the landscaping by Kamo Marsh.
The school took advantage of a solar panels subsidy through the Ministry of Education.
The internal side of the rain screens serves a bag and sheltered area for the students.
The macrocarpa detailing of the verandas contrasts beautifully with the dark metal cladding of the buildings.
