Weathertightness is a significant focus for the New Zealand building industry. And, in the wake of the ‘leaky homes crisis’, weather defense and rigid air barriers are increasing in popularity. To learn more, we spoke to Masons Technical Support Manager Arthur Whitfield about the benefits of installing weather defense barriers in both commercial and residential properties.
Barricade Weather Defense may be applied over many common construction rigid substrates. Here, Barricade WD will be applied to Masons 6mm Fibre Cement Board.
Masons Barricade WD contributes to the building moisture management design, providing a substantial secondary defense against the intrusion of moisture and air over the lifetime of the building.
Interior works can continue without the cladding in place for up to five months.
Masons Barricade Weather Defense is manufactured by thermally bonding outer spun-bonded layers to an inner layer of microporous polypropylene film, coated with pressure-sensitive advanced poly acrylic adhesive. This provides superior adhesion to a variety of typical construction materials.
