This streamlined skirting system is made for modern interiors

Intrim invests heavily in developing new profiles that reflect today’s design and construction needs. Each product starts with insight from architects, interior designers and builders, ensuring aesthetic intent aligns with installation realities. Concepts are prototyped, tested and refined before moving to production. “Our team prioritises products that solve real-world site challenges, speed up finishing trades, and create a consistent, premium look across an entire project.”

All Intrim products are precision-engineered to tight tolerances with strict quality control throughout the process for dimensional accuracy and consistency – achieving crisp junctions and straight lines. The result is a refined, reliable finish on site, whether you’re working on a single custom home or a multi-residential development.

“Durability is designed in from the start: profiles are engineered for robust everyday performance and longevity. We’re also committed to responsible sourcing – including FSC-certified timber options – and to solutions that reduce installation time and rework on site. Fewer callbacks and longer-lasting finishes are better for budgets and the environment,” says Harvey.

Created by Intrim’s founder Fred Quinsey, a former carpenter, Intrim Shadowline was developed to overcome common site challenges.

The skirting board and door jamb system features the shadowline moulded into the timber, providing a precise architectural line – unlike the P50 bead and L-bead method to create a shadowline. “It means you get a consistent shadow line, no variation in the grooves, and most importantly, ease of installation,” says Harvey.

The innovative design offers multiple advantages, including:

• Efficiency: Thanks to the elimination of the need for a P50 angle during installation, installation time is 30 per cent faster compared to other shadowline products and installation methods – leading to comparatively less installation cost.
• Consistency: The design achieves uniform shadowlines without variation.
• Finish: The surface is easy to paint, and cracking along the shadowline is eliminated when installation guidelines are followed.

“The system helps deliver the minimalist look clients expect while reducing post-paint touch-ups and call-backs. Designers appreciate the visual calm and continuity around the room perimeter, and homeowners love the premium, gallery-like finish it brings to contemporary interiors.”

One project that showcases the success of Intrim Shadowline is a high-end residential project by DLC Interiors, where specific detailing was needed for the skirting.

“With this Shadowline system, it eliminates all the issues in relation to the alignment with the plasterboard wall and the skirting. Essentially, this shadowline system will save you a lot of time in rectifying defects,” says Lawrence Li from DLC Interiors. “Our interactions with Intrim have been second to none. Their communication was on point from the first order, to manufacturing, to delivery. Intrim always kept in touch to let us know how the process was tracking. The whole process with Intrim gives us peace of mind so we can focus on our clients.”
