Known for their practicality and functionality, tiles are used within various zones throughout the home. More than that, these understated elements have the power to transform any space, especially when paired with the perfect tapware.

With endless options to choose from, we look at what’s trending and how to apply the latest looks to your designer tapware selections.

GET THE LOOK

Achieving the right balance may be a challenging feat. To get you started, we’ve compiled three trends to explore and show you how to apply them to your next kitchen, bathroom, or laundry renovation.

TREND 1 | KIT KAT

As sweet as their name suggests, ‘Kit Kat’ mosaic tiles are renowned for their slender ‘wafer-thin shape.

Their versatility has seen their popularity soar; adding visual interest with textural layering suitable in any contemporary space.

Try laying vertically to create elongation, or horizontally to produce a sense of movement and width. While most consider Kit Kat’s to be industrial in aesthetic, the option to use light grout versus dark grout can transform this stylish tile into a chic staple.

“Whilst Kit Kat’s are a striking design, in some instances, we also find they can bring a sense of calm into a space in the uniform nature of the shape and lay. Kit Kat’s are immensely versatile; by changing the shade of your grout colour, you can take something from a rather architectural structural design using a dark grout to then achieving a boho coastal look pairing with white grout for a beautiful subtle textured look.”

Pair with Brushed Bronze Gold, Tiger Bronze, Champagne, Polished Chrome or Matte Black – as they're incredibly versatile, you can combine them perfectly across various finishes.

TREND 2 | HERRINGBONE

Great for adding texture to smaller or single-tiled spaces, the Herringbone design is ideal for minimalist laundry or powder room aesthetics.

Herringbone is an ideal choice for creating a simple yet effective look without overpowering a space. The Carrara marble look is realised using Tile Cloud Carrara Look Matt Herringbone, complemented with Brushed Nickel which elegantly combines muted tones with a bespoke touch.

“Timeless in design, Carrara marble has been around for years. We find that what we hear from customers is they want the look but not the price tag or upkeep involved.
The Elwood tile falls into this criteria perfectly, being crafted from porcelain which requires no sealing and is also more affordable when compared to marble. Style-wise they offer a contemporary or traditional aesthetic for small spaces like a splashback or more prominent spaces like a feature wall or floor in a bathroom.”

Pair with Brushed Nickel - a modern alternative to chrome, producing a warmth that offsets superbly against Herringbone’s bold geometric edges.

TREND 3 | SUBWAYS

Subway tiles have been gracing the kitchen scene for some time, though now the trend has evolved and is often incorporated into all zones within the home.

They prove to be a popular choice with consumers who are attracted to the style and aesthetic.

Humble in personality, they can be pared back by the inclusion of white grout or dialled up for a contrasting effect with dark grout. Whichever the preference, Subways blend seamlessly with warm and cool tones creating a sleek and simplistic style.

Pair with Matte Black, Tiger Bronze, Champagne, or PVD Brushed Nickel tapware – an array of Meir finishes combine exquisitely with the Subway tile.
