The brand behind Australia’s leading architectural and acoustic decorative lining innovations has unveiled its latest product development this month, *Modulo Acoustic.

Designed to meet the increasing demands on specifiers to meet strict safety and acoustic regulations, Screenwood’s new Modulo Acoustic is a prefinished tongue-and-groove lining meticulously engineered to resolve crucial modern interior design challenges.

Modulo Acoustic integrates a Group 1 fire rating with high acoustic performance and desirable design versatility for interiors where safety, functionality, and aesthetics are essential. Ideal for childcare centres, aged care facilities and hospitals, ArchiPro meets with Screenwood’s Founder, Director, and Head Product Engineer to learn more.

“Interior designers and architects are constantly challenged to meet evolving and rigorous industry design standards, principles and guidelines,” says Cameron Nelson.

Cameron continues, “Modulo Acoustic presents them with a technically and visually resolved solution. Empowering them to design dynamic sculptural interiors while controlling reverberation using a non-combustible, high NRC-rated (0.75) linear wall and ceiling lining for fire and noise sensitive environments and high occupancy interiors.”

Modulo Acoustic controls reverberation by allowing sound to be absorbed through its perforations where the profile’s base meets the acoustic insulation.

Modulo Acoustic is an extension of Screenwood’s bestselling Modulo range. The new product is prefinished in an extensive choice of premium NAVURBAN non-PVC Olefin decorative film for a choice of ultra-realistic woodgrain, smooth solid colours, or an industrial-style metallic finish.

“We purpose designed Modulo Acoustic to be very simple to work with. No componentry’s required,” says Cameron.

The profiles are seamlessly wrapped in durable NAVURBAN film instead of paint, sublimation, or powder on powder, enabling designers to mix prefinished Screenwood and NAVURBAN products across their interior projects.

Cameron adds, “This seamless finish matching ensures a visually consistent, professional aesthetic.”

Australian manufactured, the new range joins Screenwood’s growing portfolio of architectural innovations.

How does Modulo Acoustic work?

Modulo Acoustic is a prefinished tongue and groove lining. Engineered from perforated aluminium, it integrates a Group 1 Fire rating with high acoustic performance and unmatched design versatility for interiors.

Modulo Acoustic controls reverberation by allowing sound to be absorbed through its perforations where the profile’s base meets the acoustic insulation. The wall and ceiling installations are acoustically rated for reverberation control with an NRC of 0.75 when installed as recommended.

Modulo Acoustic comes with an impressive line-up of certifications:

  • Independently acoustically rated: NRC of 0.75
  • Global GreenTag certified (pending): To Level B and the PlatinumHEALTH rating
  • Group 1 Fire certified (pending): Tested to AS5637.1 and AS/NZS 1530.3:1999
  • Low VOC: Exceeds GBCA requirements for commercial fitouts
  • Resistant to wear: NAVURBAN tested for abrasion resistance to AS 15080
  • UV resistant: NAVURBAN tested for exposure in indoor applications to ASTM D4459
  • Light Reflectivity Value (LVR): NAVURBAN tested in indoor applications to ASTM D4459

How are Modulo Acoustic Panels installed?

Modulo Acoustic is easy to carry, trim and fix. A fitter can simply use off-the-shelf top hat/furring channels and screws, avoiding costly proprietary systems. The vertical breakpoints allow for flexible end-point finishing and curving, while off-the-shelf aluminium end panels can be used for edging and reverse angles.

Modulo Acoustic is suitable for high-fire-rated environments excelling in aged care, education, hotels, retail, hospitality, healthcare, and any space where controlling reverberation is necessary for communication, productivity and overall tranquility.

Australian manufactured, the new range joins Screenwood’s growing portfolio of decorative and acoustic architectural innovations, including Panels, Stix and Soundlina. Soundlina was winner of the 2024 Australian Good Design Award, as the world's first perforated architectural wallpaper designed to improve the acoustic comfort of interior spaces.

Modulo Acoustic is available in Dome, Louvre, and Mesa profiles, with versatile lengths of 2.7 metres, 3.6 metres, and 5.4 metres. Visit the Screenwood website to learn more about Modulo Acoustic and order high-quality samples.
