Building a beautiful house on an island presents many challenges, which we discuss with Mark Dawson, whose team of tradies built Oneroa House on Waiheke Island.
The cedar-lined courtyard is Mark's favourite space in the house: “The boys like working with cedar and it smells great... when you walk in the door 15 years later,, it will still smell it.”
Mark is a big fan on the ‘pizza oven room’. “The detailing on that cedar sarking is really good, the basalt flooring is very practical, and the pizza oven and fire are used a lot,” he says.
The barn door and stag'e head are crafted elements by Jamie Pickernell.
