When it comes to landscaping and design, Matt & Boyd Gillespie know a thing or two! They are currently landscaping specialists at Zones Landscaping in North Shore and Rodney and they are passionate about ensuring quality workmanship and designing an area that suits their customer’s lifestyle.

So, when Outdure presented QwickBuild and their outdoor decking board range to the Zones’ landscaping specialists, Boyd & Matt knew it would be the perfect solution for their client’s deck over concrete project.

Their client had recently built and moved into their house a year previously, but they wanted to upgrade their outdoor area and make it more functional, which included building an undercover area, indoor/outdoor flow, and a bench seat, along with upgrading their gardens with plants. Our clients wanted to “create a modern look and feel, but wanted something extremely low maintenance” said Matt from Zones Landscaping.

“Our client had done their research and had mentioned they would like composite decking, so Outdure ResortDeck was the perfect option for them as it is extremely maintenance, durable, but it had a great colour range that was perfect for what they wanted,” said Boyd. ResortDeck looks like a freshly oiled timber hardwood deck with the added benefits durability.

The recycled capped composite boards are low maintenance, are splinter-free and nail-free. As this was a new house, there was already a concrete tiled area leading out the back, so we needed an extremely low height deck over concrete solution. “So, this project required a low height decking solution to be built directly over the existing concrete patio area and to extend out over the grass area. The other must-have was a level entry transition from the indoor living area to the outdoor living space” said Shane, Sales Manager, Outdure NZ.

“QwickBuild deck framing system was perfect for this as it was able to install it at ground level with no moisture issues because the joist-bearer profiles are aluminium. The system is very low maintenance and ensured a perfectly straight deck with a flush indoor-outdoor flow, which met the brief of the customer.”The added benefit of working with Outdure on this project, said Matt & Boyd, was “clients often can’t visualise what the end project would look like, once the client approved the job, Outdure was able to come out and scan the area and provide a 3D modelled image of what the end project would look like and this is invaluable as it helps the customer and helps us with the sales process and meant us spending less time on measuring and designing it was a win-win”.

“A fantastic benefit from an installation point of view with the deck framing system is that it is so quick and easy to install,” said Matt, “it didn’t create much mess, there was no need for diggers at all and given the 3D scanning design system it was super easy to integrate the bench seat – which is a big feature”.

Outdure’s deck framing system is perfect for improving any outdoor patio area and especially when wanting to build a deck over concrete. It is super easy and simple to install, can add significant value to your home and better still it can integrate easily with either composite decking, tiles or turf.

They love the low maintenance aspect, but the composite decking colour they picked was perfect for the look they were trying to achieve, and it created a perfect indoor and outdoor flow.
