The Apricus Solar Hot Water Systems can be installed on any home to provide renewable, low-emission hot water. The complete systems are suitable for individual homes, townhouses, walk ups and higher-density homes.

The Apricus ETC 30 will significantly reduce the environmental impact, energy use and cost of domestic hot water. Hot water is generally the largest single energy demand in a home, using an average of 46 per cent of power in new builds.

The complete system will reduce annual water heating costs by at least three quarters, cutting the total annual power bill by 30 per cent. Apricus solar hot water systems provide guaranteed hot water, whatever the weather, using back-up energy sources when required.

The system can make a significant contribution to Homestar points to make new homes sustainable, high performing and affordable to live in.

Scope of use
  • Suitable for heating domestic hot water for all individual residential buildings - detached houses, townhouses and walk-ups.  For apartments and larger buildings, use Apricus Commercial Solar Hot Water Systems
  • Suitable for all wind zones — cyclone rated, marine grade mounting frame and fasteners
  • Mounting system for all roof types, angles and materials
  • Light weight — roof loading of 21.2kg/m², so requires no additional structural roof engineering
  • Achieves maximum structural performance under G12 AS2. Installations outside of the scope of G12 AS2 will require specific design from the Apricus design team.

Limitations on Use:

  • Not generally suitable for heating swimming pools, space heating, or for infrequently occupied dwellings such as a bach/crib
  • Must not be installed facing away from the sun (south east to south west) or in a location with significant amounts of shading between the hours of 10am and 3pm
  • Requires supplementary energy (electricity, gas, solid fuel) for water heating during winter and periods of poor solar energy

Statement of Building Code Compliance:

  • Clause B1/VM1
  • Clause G12/AS2

In Service History

The Apricus ETC 30 Collectors have been installed in thousands of residential projects including stand-alone homes, townhouses and apartments in New Zealand and in other countries since 2003.

The Apricus ETC 30 Collectors are used in a range of commercial projects in New Zealand and internationally, see Apricus Commercial Hot Water Systems for more details.

Certification and Performance Testing:

  • Tested to all leading international solar certifications:
    • NZ and Australia — AS/NZS 2712:2007 & AS/NZS 2535.1:2007 (100633)
    • Europe — Solarkeymark (011-7S2323R)
    • USA — SRCC OG-100 (10001909)
    • Global — ISO 9001:2008 (100633) manufacturing process
  • Residential systems awarded high level of Australian Small-scale Technology Certificates (27 to 46 STCs)
Warranties
  • 10 year warranty for ETC30 Collector
  • 15 year warranty for ETC30 frame and internal manifold
  • Manufacturer’s warranty on other components
  • No regular maintenance required, however annual, visual inspections are encouraged
Recycling

Careful cradle-to-cradle design means the Apricus ETC 30 Collectors can be fully refurbished after the initial 20 year lifespan. The evacuated tubes are simply replaced with new tubes, while the collector remains on the roof, in service and fully commissioned during this process.

At the end of life, the Apricus ETC 30 Collectors are almost* 100 per cent recyclable:

  • Aluminium (anodised and PVDF coasted)
  • Copper
  • Brass
  • Stainless steel
  • Borosilicate glass (pyrex glass, currently used for glass sand / aggregate.

*Small amounts of rubber and mineral wool insulation are not currently recyclable.

About the
Seller

Apricus specialises in sustainable hot water and central heating systems for residential and commercial buildings. We work with architects, specifiers, facility managers and homeowners to bring solutions that reduce their environmental impact and meet their hot water and central heating needs.

Apricus brings the latest renewable hot water technologies into the New Zealand market, leading with innovative solar hot water collectors, CO2 hot water heat pumps and pellet biomass boilers. We aim to offer the most reliable eco alternatives to burning fossil fuels like gas, oil and coal.

Our products include:

  • Apricus All In One - heat pump for domestic hot water heating.
  • Reclaim Energy Heat Pump - for domestic hot water heating.
  • EasyPell Heat Pump - for domestic heating, cooling & hot water heating.
  • Easypell Pellet Boiler - domesitc heating & hot water.
  • ÖkoFEN Pellet Boiler - commercial heating & hot water.
  • Apricus - evacuated tube solar hot water systems for homes and commercial buildings.

Our pellet biomass boilers are produced by one of Europe's leading manufacturers, ÖkoFEN, a specialist in pellet boilers and a supplier of space-saving, cost-effective, simple solutions for storing pellets. Offering storage tanks suitable for all space and pellet requirements. The pellet boilers can provide enough hot water for even the most extensive home heating needs, using radiators, underfloor pipework, or a combination. The wood pellets burned are made in New Zealand from waste sawdust and wood shavings, providing 100% renewable heating, whatever the temperature outside.

Our range of hot water heat pumps use some of the most environmentally friendly refrigerants while offering outstanding performance. The very low global warming potential makes these systems the perfect electric alternative to gas hot water systems. Households can now reduce their energy costs and improve the sustainability of their home with ease.

The Apricus solar systems have robust frames, easy-to-use controllers and high-efficiency pumps. The high-performance, reliable designs can withstand New Zealand’s extreme environmental conditions. This is combined with a careful focus on quality and continual improvement by the team at Apricus International.

All complete system packages are individually designed for maximum savings, and on-shore technical support and global experience ensure quality and precision for every installation.
