A chair that is equally beautiful to look at as it is to sit in. The silhouette of the backrest is inspired by the traditional Shinto shrines of Japan. The Torii Chair by Bensen is a simple yet subtly sophisticated wooden chair, defined by its closely spaced back legs, broad seat, and small arched backrest. Its minimal appearance and simple construction hide a surprising amount of comfort and sturdiness making it suitable for residential and commercial use.
Torii is the Japanese name for the characteristic wood entrance arches to Shinto shrines in Japan and translates directly into English as “bird perch”. This motif perfectly describes the chair’s distinct proportions and traditional joinery, as well as the sense of harmony and calm inherent in design that is beautifully resolved.Torii is available in White Oak, Black stained Ash and Walnut with a leather or fabric upholstered seat. The Black stained Ash version is also available with a plywood seat.
Chairs must be ordered in multiples of 2.

Established in 1997, Cult (formerly Corporate Culture) was formed to provide not only exceptional designer furniture, but also a high level of customer service, a combination not yet experienced in the Australian marketplace.
In his endeavours since then, company founder and director Richard Munao have built one of the most comprehensive collections of brand partners in Australia and New Zealand. Cult has grown from its first location in Sydney to now include showrooms in Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland as well as distributors in Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.
In addition to founding Cult, and supporting strong international partners like Fritz Hansen, Carl Hansen & Son, &Tradition, HAY and Gubi, in 2017 Cult launched Nau, a contemporary collection of Australian made furniture, lighting and accessories by a collective of Australia's most curious, talented and spirited designers.
