Thoughts from the artist: She returns for a week or two to the place she has always called home; but knows she cannot stay. The hushed depiction of the road back is steeped in living nostalgia.
Sam Walker holds a MFA from Ilam. Her artistic sentiments are a mix of semi-rural experience and formative years skirting around a broken city centre of Christchurch's green belt. Both the landscape and this ‘brokenness’ is translated into literal subjects in her work.
