Mesh 2 by Richard Penn

$3,000
Pen drawing on paper
W560 x H560 mm

A magnified view at the quantum level where only mathematics and art have the language capacity to imagine the entirely abstract reality of which our known world is comprised. Ink drawings made with 0.18mm and 0.13mm rotring pens.

Richard Penn is a South African born award wining artist based in Auckland. His work is often ambiguously placed between the very large and the very small so that the same work can be said to describe the vastness of space and the interaction of galaxies as well as the infinitely small and the processes of cellular and atomic activities.

Penn is interested in the extremes of reality where the known laws of our universe tend to break down as well as how we image reality starting with our eyes and brains, and then through the technology of science — transcending our physical limitations and extending our scope to dream.

Artfull.co.nz is the premier online-first curated platform to discover and buy original works directly from emerging and established artists and makers across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Founded in 2022 by Jessica Agoston Cleary, an experienced curator, writer and public art manager, and John Barnett luminary film producer, business entrepreneur and passionate art collector, Artfull bridges the gap between the artist and the collector through the power of technology.

Artfull's ethos and mission is present the depth and breadth of incredible visual art by artists you know, and introduce you to many you don't. In bringing art on-line, Artfull seeks to demystify art and support collectors to build collections that reflect who they are.

Our services extend art consulting within both residential and commercial contexts, full collection curating and acquisition, facilitation of artist studio visits, and online 'art collecting 101' sessions either one-on-one or in groups.
