Porter’s Mineral Paint is a super premium silicate paint providing breathability, durability, and unparalleled colour fastness.
Designed to be painted onto concrete, render, brick or any other unpainted masonry surfaces, Mineral Paint chemically reacts and penetrates the porous surface, becoming part of the substrate, through a process called "Silification". Resulting in a petrified inorganic structure of unsurpassed durability and a paint system that will never crack, peel, or blister.
Guaranteed for 25 years, with an expected lifespan of 30 years plus, this finish truly is the ‘Rolls Royce’ of exterior paints.
Mineral Paint is breathable (vapour permeable), which allows moisture to escape from within the substrate, preventing substrate degradation, concrete cancer. This also prevents the build-up of bacterial mould that can cause an unhealthy environment within the building.
It creates a durable flat masonry finish that not only looks natural, it will also self-clean due to its hard inorganic structure that won’t thermoplasticize like acrylics paints (soften when warmed by the sun) preventing dirt and salts imbedding into the surface, making it perfect for windy coastal areas.
Coloured with inorganic UV stable, fade resistant oxides tints for maximum colourfastness.
It’s non-combustible, solvent free with no odours or fumes, washes up in water, and resists algal or fungal growth due to its high alkalinity.
Apply by brush or roller, we don’t recommend spraying.
Exterior, although can be used inside aswell.
Can be applied to cement render, bagged brickwork, concrete, masonry blocks, bricks, sandstone, off-form concrete, tilt-up concrete panels, and most absorbent cementitious building products. It cannot be applied to a previously painted surface, unless all coatings have been removed and the surface is porous.
Approximately 5m² - 8m2 per litre & Mineral Silicate Primer covers approximately 10 m² - 12m² per litre, all depending on porosity of the substrate.
Mineral Paint 1 litre and 15 litres. (1lt usually used for on-site sampling of the colour) Mineral Silicate Primer is available in 4 litres and 15 litres.
Crafting colour and texture in hand-made paints, wallpapers and timber flooring for 35 years.
Porter’s Paints history starts in 1982, when Sydney house painter Peter Lewis began making traditional lime washes in a small garage in Randwick, after having discovered old paint recipes in his grandfather Fred Porter's diaries.
Fred Porter was a builder, and it was during his European travels that he collected details of building techniques and paint finishes.
It was shortly after his death that Peter discovered the diaries, found the recipes for traditional paints and decided to produce improved versions.
Porter’s Paints is now sold around the world from New Zealand to L.A. Offering specialty finishes with a depth of colour and texture, Porter’s Paints offers unrivalled finishes for your project.
