MR01 Initial Outdoor Lounge

GUBI's MR01 Initial Outdoor chair is an outdoor version of the iconic lounge chair, designed by Mathias Steen Rasmussen. The modern MR01 Initial Outdoor chair has been influenced by mid-century Danish design as well as Rasmussen's background in cabinetmaking. The lounge chair has a uniquely shaped, gently inclined solid wood frame, but what makes the chair even more unique is its seat material: the seat and backrest are hand-woven from 90 meters of rope using a method developed by Rasmussen. Skilful, visible joints complete the chair's organic charm.

Rasmussen originally designed the Initial chair for his own home: the aim was to design a lounge chair that would also be suitable for meditation. The tight rope weave gives the Initial chair not only an extremely lightweight look but also a sense of floating when sitting. The chair's fascinating form language and graceful, airy construction make it a perfect lounge chair for both small balconies and larger terraces.

About the
Seller

Established in 1997, Cult (formerly Corporate Culture) was formed to provide not only exceptional designer furniture, but also a high level of customer service, a combination not yet experienced in the Australian marketplace.

In his endeavours since then, company founder and director Richard Munao have built one of the most comprehensive collections of brand partners in Australia and New Zealand. Cult has grown from its first location in Sydney to now include showrooms in Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland as well as distributors in Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.

In addition to founding Cult, and supporting strong international partners like Fritz Hansen, Carl Hansen & Son, &Tradition, HAY and Gubi, in 2017 Cult launched Nau, a contemporary collection of Australian made furniture, lighting and accessories by a collective of Australia's most curious, talented and spirited designers.
