• Brush off dirt and debris and wipe with a damp cloth.
• If cleaning is required use a mild soap.
• Regular cleaning will minimise the chance of mould growth.
• If mould growth does occur clean it immediately using a teak cleaning solution.
• Never cover with plastic or PVC. The timber must be able to breathe, otherwise mildew will grow.
• Clean stains and spills immediately.

Teak may also be refreshed periodically using 120-240 grit sandpaper, sanding with the grain. Light sanding can be done to maintain golden teak colour, otherwise left to age naturally outside, the colour will gradually change to a soft, silver-grey as the pigments in the surface layer of the wood begin to fade away. The process is depending on the degree of sunlight and rain exposure.
