A well-known tree with large maple-like leaves and attractive mottled cream to grey-black bark pattern when mature. Excellent shade, avenue or street tree used extensively around the world. Is also popular tree for pollarding with good examples seen in Europe. Deciduous, grows to 12 x 5m.
