New Zealand pool fencing is governed by NZS 8500:2006 and the Building Act 2004. All new pool fences require a building consent. Key requirements include: a minimum height of 1.2m for the pool barrier itself; no climbable footholds within 900mm of the top of the fence; a self-latching gate that opens away from the pool; and any boundary fence forming part of the barrier must be 1.8m or higher.

Mako Vertical Slat

Where pool fencing needs to connect into a boundary fence, the 1800mm Vertical Slat works particularly well. New Zealand regulations require that any boundary fence forming part of a pool barrier must be at least 1800mm high. The Vertical Slat meets that requirement while keeping your fencing consistent across the property.
