Feature Uses

Recycled:

Recycled timber is re-milled from large sections of timber predominantly from bridges, wharves and warehouses up to 100 years old. Providing seasoned posts in large section sizes.

This timber is naturally air seasoned and has minimum shrinkage and movement. The timber from bridge and wharves usually have character and features from a previous use such as nail and bolt holes and checking, which provide a unique look and patina. Warehouse posts that were originally used internally have a much cleaner look.

All these timbers can be dressed all round (DAR), rough sawn (RS ) or hand wire brushed (WB). They are also available in the Heritage Collection as original weathered posts.

Feature Uses:

Internal use
External use
Load bearing supporting beams Verandah and Pergolas
Landscaping and garden feature posts

Reclaimed:

At Ironwood we salvage timber from old forestry logs, and larger pre cut structural timbers that have not made the grade. This timber is then re-cut and milled removing any faults, creating a product ready for use. This process provides carbon storage for years to come while also minimising waste. Reclaimed timber is semi seasoned with further seasoning insitu with some or minor shrinkage and checking.

Our range of Cades Posts are included in this range. These posts don’t contain bolt holes and can be supplied greyed off and wire brushed or with a DAR (dressed all round) finish. Structural rating from F11, F14, F17 and F22.

About the
Seller

Ironwood Australia are Australia’s leading and foremost supplier of recycled Australian hardwood timbers.

Ironwood Australia's recycled hardwood timbers are suitable for any purpose for which timber can be used; from residential and commercial premises to golf courses, schools, playgrounds and bridges.

Ironwood (formerly known as the Rozelle Recycled Building Centre) was established more than 20 years ago. Our recycled hardwood timbers are sought after and specified by some of Australia’s most well known and highly regarded architects, project managers, interior designers, property stylists, property developers, hoteliers, restauranteurs and, of course, DIY renovators who want to add some character to their renovation project.

The quality, look and strength of recycled and reclaimed Australian hardwood timbers far exceeds the quality of new timber products and also has the added attraction of being an environmentally sustainable and renewable building material. Unlike new timber, the resawn recycled timber will stay straight 99% of the time.

This also means that our recycled and reclaimed Australian hardwood timber can be used for a variety of purposes. They can also be milled to size at our own mill and we can finish the timber with a range of finishes to give the timber that exact look you are seeking.
