Sex, Death & Jerry-Lee Lewis by Rachel Hope Allan

$3,350
Archival print on Moab Slickrock Metallic paper 300gsm
W1100 x H1100 mm

Thoughts from the artist:I am drawn to photographing animals. Whether that be in captivity, in the museum, or on my bed. I do this as an act of love and in an attempt to discover why I have such an affinity with them. I expose the suffering they endure, their majesty, their companionship, their grandeur. I celebrate and memorialize them; embalming them in code and silver. Each time I look through glass at animals, I uncover a little more about myself.

I use my camera as an apparatus to both distance and protect. Bending light and capturing the unseen, my images are an ode to all the creatures: the ones tattooed on my body, those that share my home, haunt my dreams and inhabit this earth

Rachel Hope Allan is an award wining photographer, head of department at Dunedin School of Fine Art, and author.

About the
Seller

Artfull.co.nz is the premier online-first curated platform to discover and buy original works directly from emerging and established artists and makers across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Founded in 2022 by Jessica Agoston Cleary, an experienced curator, writer and public art manager, and John Barnett luminary film producer, business entrepreneur and passionate art collector, Artfull bridges the gap between the artist and the collector through the power of technology.

Artfull's ethos and mission is present the depth and breadth of incredible visual art by artists you know, and introduce you to many you don't. In bringing art on-line, Artfull seeks to demystify art and support collectors to build collections that reflect who they are.

Our services extend art consulting within both residential and commercial contexts, full collection curating and acquisition, facilitation of artist studio visits, and online 'art collecting 101' sessions either one-on-one or in groups.
