The Cloud of Unknowing is an anonymous 14th Century text on contemplation. This iconic work suggests that the contemplative let go of all pre-existing conditioning and prejudices, as if below a cloud of unknowing, to become open to new ways of seeing and insight.
In Unknowing 2 the pendulous forms tumble down, overlapping and suspended, engaging within the space. A sense of enveloping draws the viewer into the picture space where the forms visually connect and draw the eye to the delicate glazing in the centre.
