"Suzani", meaning ‘needlework’, is synonymous with the glorious embroideries of Uzbekistan, in Central Asia. In the nineteenth century, Uzbek women produced fabulous silk on silk hand-embroidered hangings, bed covers, curtains and table clothes for their households and their daughters' dowries.

This runner is a very unique and unusual piece. These intricate designs have been hand-embroidered using wool onto kilim. This would make the most incredible table runner, wall hanging or throw.

Today, old Suzanis are highly prized as collectable items; they look wonderful loosely framed as a wall-hanging, but can equally be used as a table-cloth or bed-spread, or simply as a beautiful piece of embroidery to be admired & treasured.

Our team travels to Turkey annually to discover new trends, purchase new items and support the local communities that bring these artworks to life. Each piece is personally selected, no two are ever the same. Great attention is given to quality, design, colour harmony and of course, value for money.

YUVA (formally Mary Kelly Kilims) was originally established in 1995 by Mary Kelly. Mary's daughter in law, Harriet Kelly joined the business in 2019 and has since transformed YUVA into what it is today. Harriet now runs YUVA, carrying on Mary's adoration and deep knowledge of Turkish homewares.
