Blue Velvet, a quartzite from Brazil in the elite range is 30mm thick and has a polished finish. The predominant colour is aqua slashed with black and maroon veins and daubed with splashes of maroon and orange. There is a lot happening with this stone, truly an artwork of nature. Quartzite is created underground when sandstone is subjected to heat and pressure. The grains recrystallize and interlock becoming extremely hard and comparable in durability to granite.
