What’s the difference between concrete and clay roof tiles?

Concrete is generally seen as the modern clay in terms of roofing materials. Generally, concrete roof tiles offer many of the same benefits as clay, with many concrete tiles able to recreate the authentic look of traditional clay roofing. 

Both materials offer extended durability, with the materials likely to outlast the building itself. They both tolerate high wind zones and won’t degrade in coastal conditions where salt spray is an issue. 

Generally more expensive as an initial outlay, the investment in this style of roofing pays off over time with limited maintenance required and the likelihood that the roof will never need to be replaced. 

With the correct installation, a clay tile roof is unlikely to sustain damage over time. In the event it does, the individual tile or group of tiles that sustained the damage can easily be replaced rather than having to replace large sections of roofing iron.
