What makes them different is the level of support they provide. Many models include headrests and lumbar cushion or a set of separate components for supporting the lower and upper back. 

Most ergonomic chairs are customizable, while their most luxurious versions easily double as executive chairs. 

Drafting Chairs

Drafting chairs are designed to pair with drafting tables, but they also fit standing desks and counter-height meeting tables. In line with the primary purpose, many feature height adjustment that fits with the desired working surface.

Drafting office chairs are broadly used by architects and other visually-oriented professionals, which often require more elevation than the typical office swivel chair. Some models come without armrests to allow higher freedom of movement. 

Mesh back chairs

Mesh chairs are a popular choice due to their ergonomic design and breathability. The mesh material allows for improved air circulation, reducing heat and moisture buildup. Active Sitting Chairs

Active chairs and office stools are designed to promote movement while seated and eliminate a part of the issues that come with a sedentary lifestyle. They typically feature a kind of unstable seat or base, requiring an effort to maintain balance. 

The range of designs includes standard-looking chairs with added mobility, but edgy models such as stability balls in a chair frame also have their place. Stability ball chairs work to increase the user's discomfort and promote the need for a better preposition after a while.

Kneeling chairs are another modern variation that isn't widely used in the office yet, mainly because they are not the most comfortable solution around. Black: A golden standard, black office chair is easy to maintain and fit in most office interiors.

White: A white office chair looks great in modern settings and behind glass screens in bright office pods and booths. However, the downside of a white desk chair is maintenance - it’s prone to dust and stains.

Blue: A calming, brighter alternative to black is a practical and appealing choice.

Gray: The epitome of neutral, a gray desk chair can fit almost anywhere. 

Vibrant hues: They can look very chic, but need to be chosen with consideration and communicate in line with the professional identity. For instance, a pink office chair is a great choice to accentuate a feminine environment, while a red one communicates intensive power. 

Accent and Reception Chairs

A set of comfortable reception chairs provides a communicative focal point while seating all visitors easily. These models are mostly stationary, featuring a stable, four-leg sled, or cantilever base. They appear either separated as scattered single person chairs or connected in sets of three or more. 

Sets of attached seating are ideal for high traffic areas and narrow spaces. Apart from chairs, the options include modular seating, benches, sofas, and a variety of grouped seating configurations.

Things to Consider When Buying Office Chairs

• Adjustable height: It's of the greatest importance to be able to modify the seat height of depth, in order to create a comfortable office chair. 
• Tilt control: The option to lean and stretch without getting up is another asset worth considering. A slightly reclined posture has also been proven to help in protecting the spine during long work hours. The best chair would have a lean of about 100 degrees, allowing for tilting back for a while.
