Linear Lighting
- Linear lighting is a modern solution that utilises long optics to distribute the illumination. It can cover longer and narrower areas than traditional lighting and can be recessed, mounted to a ceiling or a wall, or installed as a linear pendant. At ArchiPro, we provide a collection of quality, reliable LED linear lighting solutions for a broad range of spaces. In simple words, linear lighting is a set of LED lights, aligned as one expansive unit, that replaces fluorescent tubes and incandescent bulbs. Like pendant lights, aesthetically pleasing with superior performance. But different from track lights as they don't have the same functionality.
What is LED Linear Lighting?
LED lighting has been around for over half of a century, but since the '90s it exploded with endless styling possibilities. Linear lighting is one of the major achievements of that inspiration, that solved the issue of lighting long spaces such as offices, retail, and commercial interiors.
Providing an effective and balanced illumination of long spaces with one unit has always been a challenge. Fluorescent tubes were the rage of the '80s, but the light was too artificial and unstable, with all flickering and buzzing. With linear LED lighting came solutions that made it the most popular office lighting option up to date.
Where to Use Linear Lights
The flexibility of linear lighting allows for its usage in a wide variety of applications. Often featured in commercial environments, it also finds its place in schools and even in residential spaces. LED Linear systems are considered to have a significant impact on workplace productivity.
LED linear lights can be bright and powerful, or dimmable for ambient illumination. Impressive settings are often seen in frequented areas and public spaces with strong design concepts.
Suspended LED linear light fixtures can trick the eye and make a room appear wider or longer. The chandelier style is especially convenient in dining rooms, over long tables, or kitchen islands. Commercial LED ceiling lights fit with modern settings, helping to make space elegant and energy-efficient.
Suspended Linear Lights
Linear suspension lighting hangs from the ceiling, usually attached through wires or chains. It comes in a variety of styles, lengths and blends with added visual interest. This type is suitable for ample spaces with high ceilings.
Recessed Linear Lights
Recessed linear lighting is commonly situated in a hollow opening in a surface of a ceiling or a wall. It's a good choice as an ambience light, due to its clean, obscure lines or shapes that blend with the surface to become a part of the space.
Surface Linear Lighting
Surface LED linear lights are a practical solution for staircases and circulation areas. It can also be integrated with joinery details to provide stunning visual features. Frequently used in office environments, it offers additional installation benefits and design diversity.
Modular Linear Lighting
One of the best advantages of these designs is that different types of fixtures can be linked. This is called modular linear lighting. Surface, suspended, and recessed linear lighting products together form varied modular lighting designs for a range of different spaces.
Strip Lighting
Led recessed strip lighting is an efficient alternative to standard linear lighting. LED strips are highly customisable, and available by length - which adds to the flexibility of use. The strips are ideal for oddly shaped and hard to reach areas.
Benefits of Linear Lights
Opposite to flawed fluorescent light, LED linear lights create a warm, pleasant, radiant atmosphere. It brings improvement in flexibility, performance and appeal. With a lighting value of up to 4000K, LED linear can cover even the darkest corners in a blink of an eye.
Linking option adds even more versatility for creating custom designs of all kinds. With long runs, weird angles, corners, squares, and subtle detailing, LED linear lights can be incorporated virtually into any design.
Colour Temperature
Kelvin temperature (K) defines the colour of light and, consequently, the effect it provides.
- Warm white ranges from 2700K to 3000K, it's a calm, relaxing light for versatile use.
- Natural white ranges between 4000K and 4500K, ideal for use in professional environments.
- Cool white varies between 5500K and 6500K and produces a crisp light, suitable for security lighting and display areas.
Warm light might not be the best choice for environments where it mixes with cool-coloured daylight, as it may appear yellow.
On the other side, cool colours are sometimes perceived as too bright and sterile, hence not adequate for residential use.
