Architecture + Women NZ
Associations
About us
Architecture+Women•NZ simply shines a spotlight on women working in the field of architecture, so that they become more visible in the public realm.
We believe that by helping to create a diverse, inclusive architectural community, healthy workplace environments develop and architectural excellence is supported.
All A+W•NZ events are open to everyone, and membership for those meeting the three A+W NZ criteria is free.

Mission Statement
The two core aims of Architecture+Women•NZ are; visibility - to provide a support system which helps make visible the hard work of A+W•NZ members, and inclusiveness - to remove or reduce as many barriers as possible, (class, religion, culture, sexual orientation etc).
We work from the strong platform of gender, for the benefit of all those who work in architecture.
Services
A+W•NZ achieve our aims via four strategies;
1. Networks - online database, Facebook page, Twitter, Newsletters, mentoring events etc
2. Events - Exhibitions, Awards, Symposiums, Lectures, Breakfast talks, Waiata mornings etc
3. Research - Publications, Journal articles, Magazine articles, Oral Histories, A+W•NZ Timeline etc
4. Policy - Guidelines for Institutes, Practices, submissions to Government Law reform etc
A+W•NZ has held over 50 events since its formation in 2011, beginning with a nationwide exhibition in 2013, involving over 500 exhibitors. We run a triennial awards programme, have a publication arm, and maintain newsletter and social media platforms. The A+W•NZ Database forms our membership base and provides a visible and free platform for our over 700 members.
A+W•NZ is considered an 'umbrella' organisation, where the core group holds the handle while members and friends come and go to work on whatever projects they choose. We provide the support systems to make (good) things happen - just bring us your ideas, concerns or projects.
The A+W•NZ core group meets monthly, and all are invited to join in these meetings to be involved in current and ongoing projects.
All work undertaken by A+W NZ is done on a volunteer basis.
Membership
A+W•NZ is free and accessible to all who meet the 3 criteria (as listed in the ‘Rules’) below;
