About

From humble beginnings, Bakewell Burners Outdoor Fireplaces were crafted because after exhaustive searching we couldn't find the right solution for our outdoor entertainment area. The options were far too large, extremely heavy and difficult to position, non-performing, cost-prohibitive or outright just didn't look right.

With 30 year's experience in the engineering trade as a fitter/welder, boat builder and most things in-between, Wayne decided to design his own, focusing on solutions to these problems. With a Kiwi 'can-do' resolve and by utilising the alloy offcuts from our successful vacuum tank business, Alloy Industries Ltd, Wayne set about designing and fabricating.

The resulting design was tweaked and modified over time until the final product received such enthusiastic feedback we decided to share our great fires with others. We have gone from strength to strength in the last few years, with Bakewell Burners becoming a thriving business in its own right. It is surely a testament to kiwi ingenuity, skill and passion to provide an outdoor fireplace that can satisfy the most demanding entertainer. Wayne, his wife Glyn and two daughters live in Te Puna, nestled in the sunny Bay of Plenty NZ.

"After some research I decided to put my money on a Bakewell burner to go in my Adventurer tent ( another NZ made quality product).

Higher price than many others but on paper, more features and better build quality.

And NZ made which in this day and age is important. We all complain about cheap imported products so I wanted to do my bit to support our local industry.

So did it live up to expectations? In short the stove was by far better and more functional than I had expected.

4 wet days in the Kaimanawas this little stove proved its worth. All cooking and water heating done on the stove top.

The workmanship, gauge of the stove stainless and the flue evidence that this stove is built for the long haul.

I bought my stove as the basic model. Comes with flue and side shelf. The real beauty of the attached shelf is that you have somewhere to put a hot kettle or frypan. And it will keep the kettle hot but off the boil.

The other topic worthy of raising is the efficiency of this little stove. Very economical on wood.

Functionally also very easy to adjust from roaring to ticking along with the regulator disc on the door.

Overall as a fussy buyer I can’t fault the Bakewell stove. Perhaps for only one suggestion. Some plastic or rubber feet on the leg ends.

This fire/cooker is just amazing. We purchased for our beach batch so as we would have warmth as well as something to cook on and heat water. This burner does exactly that. I would absolutely recommend to anyone, Cooks a mean feed and keeps you warm as toast.

We love our Bakewell Outdoor fire. We had been looking at building one when my husband saw Bakewell stand at Field Days. We ordered it the following Saturday and within a week it was ready for delivery and arrived couple of days later. Love the mobility of it – we can move it around to suit. Highly recommended.

While looking at outdoor fires we found the Bakewell outdoor fire, It’s a fantastic addition to our outdoor area and great for entertaining. You can produce great pizzas, roasts and numerous other dishes, or just sit around and chat over a glass of wine. After three years we have have no regrets at all buying this.

Brought the outdoor fireplace and not only looks fab but is awesome to sit round etc. Throws out heaps of heat to keep warm on those cold nights. Also brought hot plate to cook off. Amazing company to buy off with easy contact and can’t do enough to assist you. Highly recommend.
