"Dean and the team had worked with other people we knew, which was a helpful start. From there, we were looking for someone flexible and open to working with the approach to renovation we were taking. In addition, we were looking for someone we trusted, and who was willing to work in detail with us to get the cost of the project to a manageable start point.

We had a bit of unease from the stories you hear and some of our experiences from past projects. Particularly around large-scale renovations. This build was a positive experience and so has definitely improved our confidence for future projects.

We wanted to be involved and hands-on in the project, to see it completed within a realistic timeframe, not to have the building team away from the site unnecessarily, and to see the project completed to a high quality and within budget. There are always challenges on a project of this size and complexity, but overall our expectations were met.

Dean is very approachable and willing to spend time working through both details before commencing and the challenges that came up along the way. His unflappable down to earth manner served everyone well when the pressure went on. We appreciated the positive solutions Dean brought to the technical challenges that are inevitable in a renovation project. Dean's team reflected those values also and was a pleasure to work with.

We had some very clear goals around creating a contemporary home that had great connections between the "hub of the home" out to the living spaces and the outdoor areas that adjoin them with hospitality and entertainment being a key theme for us. In addition, we were looking to create work from home options that are connected to the house, but that can be separated from family life. We've thoroughly enjoyed the finished product and the way it all works with our lifestyle.

As it was only a renovation, there were no plans, Dean took this in his stride and just made it happen. As it turned out, our house was even more dilapidated than first thought; as a result, our house was essentially rebuilt.
