The Building Process – A Step by Step Guide

Our step by step guide outlines the key aspects of getting your building project up and running, from consents and inspections to choosing the tiles and taps. You can be as involved as much or as little as you want. One of the many benefits of using a Certified Builder is that you get to work directly with us, not ‘middlemen’. 2. Site Review – getting to grips with the lay-of-the-land.
3. House design and floor plan – come with your Plans, or share your ideas with us and our designer will draw up Plans just for you.
4. Building materials – sourced and secured.
5. Construction milestones – services, foundations, framing, roof and windows, lining, electrical & plumbing, painting, landscaping
6. Fittings and furnishing – the finishing touches, just the way you want them

OUTDOORS

• Choose native plants for landscaping.
• Use light colours for your roofing to reflect heat.

WATER

• Use water efficient showerheads and toilets – they perform just as well and cut back on water usage.
• Install aerators to the end of your taps, this will reduce the amount of water you use.
• Install a rainwater harvesting system, take advantage of the free rain.

HOUSEHOLD

• Use low, or no-V.O.C. paints.
• Reduce the amount of carpet in your house – carpet traps dust and allergens.

KITCHEN

• Don’t open the oven while cooking.
• Always match the size of the burner with the size of the pan.
