Building an energy efficient home requires expertise in the design and build process.  To achieve the best result a comprehensive design and build package is required.

A warm comfortable home with great air quality, and ‘even’ temperatures throughout can be achieved by applying some key principles.   These key principles are sometimes referred to as passive house principles due to their origin in Passivhaus.

We have divided our high performance homes into three levels (more detail below).

All incorporate the five key principles.  The differences are strict versus more flexible performance requirements, and the level of testing and measuring involved.  Our aim is to find that ‘sweet spot’ through achieving the best performing home for your unique set of circumstances.  This includes your budget, your site constraints, and your family’s priorities.

As members of the Superhome movement, we encourage energy modelling of homes at the design stage (this is an important provision in our top two levels).

We can also help with a Homestar rating on all levels.

This won’t replace face to face meetings or phone conversation, which are still vital to the project, but provides information at your fingertips, all in one place, and a means of trackable communication.

Whether you are at home, work, on the road or on site, the information is always accessible:

• upcoming decisions flagged to you;
• variations can be requested by you , priced by us and then approved by you;
• schedules can be viewed;
• questions can be asked;
• documents/photos/brochures can be uploaded for viewing;

Chatterton Homes are trained and experienced in the use of structural insulated panels.  Having successfully completed SIPs builds since 2011 we can claim to be leaders in this field of construction.

With this extensive experience, and staff fully trained in its assembly and install, we understand what is required in both design and construction, and you get the best advice and expertise out there.

Our indoor panel assembly plant is also a hit with homeowners and builders alike who utilise our plant and skilled team to reduce weather delays and enable a more efficient build process.  It also means your panels don’t spend excessive amounts of time exposed to the elements. We take the panels to site where they are erected with the assistance of a crane, without delay, allowing us to progress the build to a weatherproof shell a lot sooner.

We use designers experienced in SIPs and their technical requirements.  We work with those designers and the homeowners from the start to offer input on the practical aspects of the design, use of SIPs and advise on any cost implications.

Our long-standing relationship with SIPs, has enabled us to develop systems and processes to ensure a smooth supply, delivery, and installation process for our clients.  A detailed understanding of shop drawings (technical SIPs plans), potential inconsistencies and solutions to plan errors are essential skills our team possess.  This avoids delays, errors, and headaches during the build. Customers continue to benefit from a great product and a solid team of both builder and supplier.

We have extensive expertise in air tightness testing (Blower Door) and are ATTMA accredited. We offer energy modelling on all our design build, and and all our plan range homes are energy modelled. We also offer full passive house certification for those wanting to achieve the optimal in performance. Brent has completed the Passive House Tradesperson certification.
