TOM CONNOR

Tom is a professional business owner and comes with over 12 year’s project experience, in both construction and engineering industries and is currently the Managing Director of Connor Jones.

Tom has worked through all levels of construction and engineering prior to staring Connor Jones.

 He has a trade background and qualification in light engineering, predominantly in Stainless Steel and Aluminum Fabrication for the food industry.

Tom has worked on an extensive range of projects as client-side project manager in

Construction for Octa Associates Ltd, such as University of Otago – Science Precinct Redevelopment and Chalmers Property – Steel and Tube Redevelopment.

Toms previous experience in the fabrication and manufacture of food processing plant and services, led to a role as Project Manager for Scott Technology (Dunedin), with overall responsibility for the design, manufacture and installation of automated robotic machinery, mainly in the automation of lamb processing.

Being able to communicate on multiple levels provides our clients with assurances, confidence and understanding of the information that is being delivered.

With an honest and methodical outlook to construction and engineering projects, Tom is capable of delivering the most technical projects through all stages of a project life cycle as per the brief and as specified.

CHRIS JONES

Chris is a professional business owner and comes with over 22 year’s project experience, in both construction and engineering industries and is currently the Site manager across Connor Jones Projects.

Chris has worked through all levels of construction and engineering prior to staring Connor Jones.

He has 3 trade qualifications. Construction (LBP), Engineering (Light Fabrication), Boat Building and Marine Engineering.

Having completed a range of construction & engineering projects in his time, Chris uses this experience to deliver complex projects with ease.

His problem-solving abilities are his biggest attribute and he clearly can communicate these to the key stake holders early and mitigate Risk from the outset.

Chris provides an easy transition from the construction site to project manager.

Currently employing 10 Fully qualified builders and 5 Apprentices.

The building team is headed up by Ben Taylor (LBP)

Ben is a driven Project Manager with nearly a decade of experience under his belt, he prides himself on his knowledge of the building code and subtrade quality. Ben has been with Connor Jones since November 2020.

Ben has worked on a diverse range of projects within the construction sector, both commercial and high-end residential projects. Ben is well versed in Light Commercial construction and enjoys engaging in high tempo projects with a high level of detail.

On the engineering side of this we have 2 Fully qualified engineers and 1 Apprentice , we also have one dual qualified Builder/Fabricator.

The Engineering team is overseen by Steve Fern.

Steve has extensive experience in the design of equipment and automated machinery used in a variety of industries, providing solutions from initial concept through to final commissioning.

He is also qualified in the area of machine safety with the relevant TUV qualification. 

Working along side both teams we have Matt Cooper as our Quantity surveyor.

Matt is an organised QS with a real interest in commercial construction. Matt’s projects are priced on a methodical approach to any project where jobs are measured to be constructed in an economical manner with a fine eye on quality.

Matt is a fully qualified quantity surveyor who is highly engaged during the project life cycle and ensures that costs are being managed effectively and timely.
