Testimonials

John Giles of Cuesko has been providing cost control and quantity surveying assistance to DNZ Property Fund for some 9 years on a diverse range of projects. This has included CBD apartments ,commercial offices, large and small format retail, and a number of warehouse/office facilities in the South Auckland area. John’s wise counsel extends beyond cost advice and has been invaluable in assisting with programming, tender evaluation and contract administration. All assignments undertaken by Cuesko have been undertaken efficiently and in a timely manner with very few surprises or cost implications resulting. Of high importance to me has been the ability to access Cuesko staff outside of normal hours to resolve issue of a critical nature.

Vince, with his many years of civil quantity surveying experience, was instrumental in providing sound cost planning advice as Auckland Airport undertook a review of our long term development plans in The Landing (a 120 hectare precinct). In addition his cost estimating and reporting abilities during the development of the detailed design of the next 10 hectare (net developable area) expansion within the precinct was invaluable in advance of getting approval to expend funds on the project. In a challenging and uncertain civil construction environment Vince’s input helped to ensure that there were no cost surprises when it came time to tender the project.

Greg’s previous experience as a contractor gives him extra insight into project costs which has been invaluable.

When planning the delivery of Quad 5, Auckland Airport’s first speculative commercial office building in a number of years; and the headquarters of the airport’s management team, it was imperative that the end product was an outstanding facility and a financial success. John Giles, as the project Quantity Surveyor, was integral in ensuring both goals were achieved. Over the two year life of the project John was an exceptional team member who consistently delivered high quality and reliable advice and deliverables. We’d welcome the opportunity to work with John in the future.

Cuesko provided invaluable input on this unusual project that involves a combination of prefabricated landscape elements and natural materials produced and supplied in New Zealand and destined for Passchendaele, Belgium. Cuesko rose admirably to the challenge and provided their always professional expertise in the always short timeframe.

Vince provided a professional service on the elements of the project that he was involved in, cutting through the complexity of the problems and providing clear and reliable information and advice to enable the project to make good decisions.”

Vince has proven to be a valuable part of the Hobsonville Land Company consultant team. Over the 167ha Hobsonville Point site, Vince provides cost advice on four separate civil and infrastructure projects – most of which are complex both in constructability terms and due to the jointly funded nature of the projects which involves cost apportionment and joint client reporting. Not only does he have years of experience in quantity surveying, he also exhibits a wealth of knowledge when it comes to civil and infrastructure construction detail and methodology. Many times he has provided feasible alternatives to tabled designs and his advice is not only invaluable to the team, but also sought out personally by me when issues are raised and I require a reasoned opinion. He is able to provide speedy, clear and accurate cost advice and has been able to tailor his cost reports to my needs, joint funder needs, and the needs of the Board to whom I report.

Robert Graham | Development Manager – Projects, Hobsonville Land Company

The Christchurch Heritage Trust engaged Cuesko to oversee the costings for the Trust’s Trinity/Shands project. This is a combination of two Category 1 buildings listed by Heritage New Zealand, a reconstruction of a tower, and the addition of a new block for meeting rooms, toilet and kitchen facilities. Since Cuesko developed the concept estimate for the project the scope has developed and evolved into four major elements of work. This is an unusual and complex project as each of these elements comes with its own set of unique design features and heritage responsibilities which incorporate extremely innovative construction and repair strategies. Cuesko have the challenging task of managing the budget for each element separately and as the project evolves through the design stage, Cuesko have been imperative in providing the cost advice to support decision making. Due to new construction systems being continually researched and investigated, Eoin has tailored the cost planning document to be easily updated as new information becomes available. This allows the forecasted budget expenditure to be tracked and managed all while incorporating actual costs incurred from early works running on site concurrent with the design period. Eoin has shown great enthusiasm in this significant Christchurch heritage project and his efforts to keep the reports current with all changes has had a very positive impact on the PM’s ability to consult with other members of the design team.
