About us
Currie Construction (2012) are a second-generation family business based in Tairāwhiti on the East Coast of the North Island.
Founded in 1985, Currie Construction focused on commercial and residential carpentry construction in the region and received multiple awards for their residential construction. In 2012 brothers Sam and John took over the company and have continued to grow the business with expansion into civil construction across the region, which also recently won an award at the CCNZ 2021 award dinner for a project that was entered. The commercial building division have begun to specialise in commercial carpentry construction.
We employ over 80 employees across the divisions, including Engineers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Administration Wizards, Qualified Carpenters, and Apprentices (Civil and Carpentry). Our dedication to employee and company development has allowed the business to to grow and diversify over time, making us a leading a construction company in the region for commercial and civil construction.
The team have successfully completed over 200 projects from Wairoa to the East Cape, ranging from footpaths to the inner harbour development and residential homes to large school upgrades. Focusing on quality craftsmanship, we are a team that focus on getting the job done well
Civil Construction
Our Civil team is led by Sam (Director) and Craig (Civil Contracts Manager), and with their leadership the division has been able to grow and become a tier 1 civil contractor within the region. We work across a diverse range of projects, ranging from footpaths to retaining walls to monument restoration.
- Bridge work including small bridge construction, refurbishment, abutment remedial works
- Drilling work: tieback anchors, weep hole, piling
- Large diversity of roading work including shoulder widening, kerb and channel, trenching, and asphalt repairs
- Concrete pumping, drilling and cutting and shot-creting;
- Slip repairs
- Culvert installation
- Retaining walls
- Large scale public landscaping
- Work across public spaces including earth works, structural concrete, drainage, installation, restoration and construction of architectural features and public monuments.
Commercial Construction
Our Commercial Carpentry team are led by John (Director) and Mark (Project Manager). The team have completed large scale commercial and residential builds across the region for over 30 years. In recent years, we made the decision to focus on commercial carpentry to allow us to specialise in the area and become the number one choice for commercial construction in the region.
The team are currently working across a number of large scale Ministry of Education and Kainga Ora projects across the Tairāwhiti region. Our continued high quality delivery on these projects has meant we have secured repetitive projects with these clients.
We are proud to say we have trained around 100 apprentices throughout the years and that many of our employees stay on to work for the company long after completing their training.
